The largest children's prison in the world is found at St. Petersburg, Russia. There are nearly 1200 boys aging from 8 through 18 who are imprisoned there and held in cells of 8 X 10 feet. Cells hold up to eleven boys with only four beds per cell. Lice is a major problem, as well as tuberculosis and other diseases. This prison is desperate for medicines, delousing medication, syringes, antibiotics, and antiseptic remedies. Clothes and shoes are needed very badly and there are now no goverment funds to provide for this support.
Our gifts to this project help to provide the medicine and clothing that are so desperately needed by these young people, who are allowed only two hours of time outside their cells each day. The need is so very great as their conditions are unbelievably atrocious.
