The Journey to "Increase Space for Ministry":

2004:
Mission and Ministry Council began discussing facility needs.

2006 - 2007:
Several options were evaluated and considered, including the following:
- Expansion of the current facilities.
- Purchase of additional or adjacent land.
- The Brown Church Development Group of Kearney  Nebraska was consulted.

January 2008:
Carol Stoop of the Lutheran Church Extension Fund (LCEF) was contacted.
The Strategic Mission Planning (SMP) Process was born.
More than 250 members, plus 4 planning sessions, equals 1 goal “To Make Disciples”.

April 27, 2008:
The Strategic Ministry Plan: “Our Best Understanding of God’s Calling for This Congregation” was adopted at the voters meeting

4 Tactical Teams were created - (‘Tactical’ can be defined as: An approach taken to achieve specific objectives or to solve a specific problem).
     1. Identify Ministry Needs
     2. Research/Evaluate Facility Options
     3. Consider Financial Options
     4. Develop a Communication Structure
 

May and June 2008:
Tactical teams began meeting and chairpersons and co-chair persons were selected.

August 5, 2008:
Carol Stoop returned for a follow-up visit.
 
Decision was made for Tactical teams to focus on the option “To stay at Peace Lutheran, enlarge, and start a mission or a satellite church”.
