MMC Communication Update 4/17/2009
Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,
On MAY 10, we’re going to do something NEVER BEFORE DONE at Peace LC!!
There has always been a need for clear, accurate communication between the staff, leaders and members of Peace LC. As with many organizations, this is a “growth area” for us. At the same time, effective communication is even MORE imperative for us today! We have entered a complex period of changes and challenges here at Peace as we grow, and as we plan for further growth. In response to this need, the Mission and Ministry Council is planning to hold regular informational meetings called the “MMC Communication Hour”.
This is open to ALL Peace members, leaders and staff. It is NOT a Voter’s meeting.
No official decisions will be made. The MMC is holding these meetings for two reasons only: to share information and to answer questions.
Goals include:
- - Promoting open, on-going dialogue between members, leadership and staff,
- - To keep updated, accurate general information going out to members,
- - To provide answers to specific questions that members may have,
- - To obtain from members useful insights and ideas for ministry here at Peace.
After an opening devotion/prayer, information will be shared on a specific topic, verbally and through handouts/power point presentations, etc. This will be followed by Q/A time for participants to ask questions on this specific topic. If we can’t answer them on the spot, we’ll find the answer and get that information out to the congregation. There will be several topics on the agenda and we’ll cover as many as we can at each meeting.
To make this sharing of information even more effective, “Question Boxes” will be put outside the Sanctuary and the Life Center for people to submit questions they’d like addressed. As much as possible, we will collect the questions and compose answers ahead of time to be given out at the next MMC Communication Hour meeting.
If received early enough, questions will be answered and the information disseminated prior to the next meeting. Then members can digest it and come with follow up questions. This will help us make better use of our one hour together as participants will come with more knowledge and be prepared to ask more specific questions.
For best attendance, the MMC Communication Hours will be held on Sunday mornings in place of the regular Adult Bible Class hour.
The first one is scheduled for May 10, in the LIFE CENTER from about 9:15-10:15.
Initially we will hold MMC Communication Hours every other month until we feel “caught up” on important information that needs to go out. Long-term, we expect to hold them once per quarter.
